Joint with the European Cyclists’ Federation Scientists for Cycling colloquium
University of the West of England, 6th -7th September 2018
We are calling for papers to be presented at the joint Cycling and Society Symposium and the European Cyclists’ for Cycling (ECF) Scientists for Cycling colloquium to be held on Thursday 6th September 2018 and the morning of Friday 7th September 2018.
Contenus attendus
Contributions are welcome from researchers, or those who have undertaken research work, in any aspect of cycling. We welcome contributions from any discipline or research interest. We especially welcome contributions that deal with social, environmental or economic factors relating to cycling. Some particular topics of interest as far as the ECF is concerned are as follows:
- Cycling and the social. Exploring the societal benefits and inequalities of cycling;
- Value for money? The challenges of the evaluation of cycling policies (especially EU and nationally funded);
- Constructing safe cycling. Understanding how infrastructure, norms and perceptions affect the perception of cycling safety;
- Beyond ‘Vision Zero’, moving into an integrated vision of road safety with health and wellbeing;
- ‘Normalising’ cycling. Exploring the link between cycle tourism/leisure cycling and everyday cycling;
- Smart cycling? How to make use of and question big data sources for monitoring cycling.
We welcome abstracts up to 300 words long that explain the background, methodology, results and impact of the research. You can indicate whether you would prefer to present as a paper (for 15 minutes with 5 minutes for question and answer), or as part of the poster session (which will be an organized event within the conference programme). After abstract review, the organisers may suggest a different form of presentation from that which you have indicated a preference.
Date limite de soumission
Abstracts should be submitted to Cycling & Society by 5pm UK time on Friday 15th June 2018. Authors will be notified by 29th June 2018, when event registration opens. For further information, please contact Caroline Bartle à l’université. .
